This document addresses the development of specialized clinical competencies in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing (MHN) and the implementation of a project focused on suicide prevention within the scope of MHN training. The subject is of increasing relevance in the field of mental health, as suicide represents a serious public health issue with profound effects on individuals, families, and communities. The project's objectives included raising awareness of the issue, equipping healthcare professionals for effective intervention, and providing direct support to at-risk individuals through the implementation of support, prevention, and individualized follow-up strategies. The clinical experience took place across three different settings — community care, specialized response structures, and inpatient units during acute phases of illness — allowing for the practical application of theoretical knowledge and the adaptation of interventions to the dynamics of each context. Each setting required tailored approaches in line with the specific needs of its target population. The adopted methodology consisted of a comprehensive literature review on suicide prevention, integrated with a description and reflection on the activities carried out during the clinical training. Reflective practice was a key component, contributing to professional development and the continuous improvement of care delivery. The results indicated a positive impact from the implemented interventions. Healthcare professionals reported feeling more prepared to manage situations related to suicide, and service users demonstrated greater awareness of warning signs, coping strategies, and the use of support networks previously explored.
