Abstract(s)
The Forest of Coimbra Agrarian School (ESAC) is a natural area of about 22 hectares, overlooking the Covões stream, in the parish of São Martinho do Bispo. The objectives of this work were to carry out the floristic survey of the plant strata and the inventory of the mycological community. During the work, 250 species of vascular plants and 83 species of macrofungi were identified. Moreover, there is the occurrence of autochthonous plant formations of high conservation interest, such as the Quercus faginea and Laurus nobilis forests, both of which are part of the Habitats Directive of the Natura 2000 Network. A particular effort was applied to the detection of species of superior conservation interest, in order to guarantee their preservation, as well as to locate invasive plant species, a growing and serious threat to the biological richness of this woodland. The collected data confirm and praise the importance of this forest area in the context of biodiversity conservation at the regional and national panorama and provide the necessary information for the delineation of guidelines for the conservation of its natural values, supporting the relevance of the elaboration of a plan for the management and enhancement of the ESAC Forest
