Abstract(s)
A evidência recomenda a
Heart failure is one of the leading causes of hospitalization in adults over 65 years of age, being associated with high morbidity, functional dependence, and risk of recurrence. Current evidence supports the inclusion of cardiac rehabilitation from the acute phase of the syndrome, highlighting exercise prescription as a safe and effective intervention. The Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing can play a key role in its implementation. This study aims to implement a quality improvement project focused on enhancing the competencies of Specialist Nurses in Rehabilitation Nursing regarding the prescription of physical exercise in individuals with acute heart failure. For this purpose, an integrative literature review was conducted, followed by the implementation of a training session, with pre- and post-intervention evaluation. Knowledge gains were observed, particularly in understanding the principles of exercise prescription. However, areas such as discharge preparation and safety criteria showed less improvement, indicating the need for complementary intervention. It is concluded that the project had a positive impact on the professional development of the sample. The adopted methodology proved effective in promoting sustained change and reinforced the role of the Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing in improving the quality of care provided in the hospital setting.
