Abstract(s)
OUTCAST.
A produção destas animações usou métodos experimentais e
This project aims to raise awareness of certain social inequalities. It intends to question certain ideals of beauty as well as generalized ideas about shadows. The project is a part of visual culture and originated from the observation of the visual aspects of camouflage. From which the topic of the shadows was addressed. The different meanings and aesthetics used resulted from this investigation about shadows. Stemming from a discussion of the aesthetics of light and shadow, a metaphorical analogy was created between this world of light and life in society. More specifically, this thesis questions the collective behaviour towards the real “shadows” of today. In this sense, a series of short stop-motion animations produced in abandoned spaces were developed, which explore the metaphorical and expressive dimensions of shadows and to which the name OUTCAST was given. The production of these animations used experimental methods and was possible thanks to a detailed planning and analysis of light in the various spaces, as well as theoretical and visual references alluding to similar contexts, ranging from independent cinema to erudite art, not to mention great animation cinema and indie animation cinema.
