Abstract(s)
Este trabalho pretende abordar, de uma forma geral, os principais grupos farmacológicos mais prescritos na área de Medicina Dentária e as suas interacções medicamentosas.
A interacção medicamentosa consiste na alteração da actividade farmacológica de um fármaco provocada pela administração de outro e traduz-se numa resposta farmacológica diferente da prevista quando o mesmo fármaco é administrado isoladamente. As interacções são uma realidade nos dias de hoje, não só devido ao elevado número de doentes polimedicados decorrentes de diversas patologias existentes, como também por um grave problema de saúde pública em Portugal, a “auto-medicação”. São classificadas tendo em conta o mecanismo de acção envolvido (farmacocinéticas ou farmacodinâmicas) e as substâncias que nelas intervêm (fármacos, alimentos ou produtos naturais).
O Médico Dentista confronta-se muitas vezes com doentes com infecções, processos inflamatórios e por norma prescreve mais do que um fármaco. Torna-se assim importante saber prescrever de forma correcta evitando dessa forma interacções medicamentosas que podem acabar por ser fatais.
This work aims to address, in a general way, the main pharmacological groups most prescribed in the area of Dental Medicine and their interactions. The drug interaction consists of altering the pharmacological activity of one drug caused by the administration of another and translates into a pharmacological response different from the anticipated when the same drug is administered by itself. Interactions are a reality today, not only due to the high number of polimedicated patients due to several existing pathologies, but also by a serious public health issue in Portugal, "self medication". They are classified considering the mechanism of action involved (pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics) and the substances involved (drugs, food or natural products). The dentist frequently encounters patients with infections, inflammatory processes, and prescribes more than one drug. It is therefore important to know how to correctly prescribe, thus avoiding drug interactions that can end up being fatal. In the course of this dissertation I will develop not only the therapeutic indication of the most prescribed drugs but also their drug interactions.
