Abstract(s)

Em 1961 os ventos da descolonização sopravam com irresistível força, fazendo perigar a histórica presença Portuguesa em África. O inevitável acontece nesse mesmo ano e prolongar-se-ia até 1974 numa guerra em três frentes, onde Portugal procura manter a sua hegemonia ultramarina. A Guerra, que se antevia prolongada, pretendia-se conduzida de forma a limitar o impacto sócio-político, escala e a custo reduzido, com o objetivo final de manter indivisível a Nação Portuguesa. Com este trabalho de investigação, enquadrado na “Análise da Campanha Militar no Teatro de Operações de Angola do ponto de vista das Forças Terrestres”, foi analisada a função de combate Comando Missão, mediante a aplicação do método dedutivo. Para tal, as observações versaram os conceitos atuais à luz do então aplicado. Constatou-se que o Comando Missão, não só foi aplicado como foi fulcral para a condução das operações, vertendo o Comando e Controlo dos Comandantes de forma sincronizada, simplificada e aplicável a todos os escalões. Abstract: In 1961 the decolonization winds were blowing with and unstoppable strength, endangering the historical Portuguese presence in Africa. The unavoidable happened that same year and would continue until 1974 in a three front war, with Portugal aspiring to maintain its overseas hegemony. War, foreseeable to be long, was desired to be conducted in such a way to limit social-political impact; scale and a reduced cost, with the aim of maintaining united the Portuguese Nation. With this investigation essay, framed in the “Angolan Operations Theatre military campaign analysis from the Land Forces point of view”, the Mission Command warfighting function was analyzed, using the deduction methodology. In order to do so, the observations were made respecting the current concepts taking in account the doctrine used in that period. We concluded that Mission Command was not only used but also essential in order to conduct operations, regarding the Commander’s Command and Control in a synchronized, simplified way that was usable by all echelons.
