Abstract(s)
Nowadays, it is a known fact that social media are part of the daily life of its users, since people are connected to their accounts and update them every minute. As this phenomenon continues to grow, there are some issues we all must keep in mind: Do social networking users use these platforms as their primary connection point to look up for news? Is it safe to say that at some point social networks are the platform that people use to consume news? Therefore, this study intends to analyze the behavior of a sample of the Portuguese population who use social networks to consume news information. Subsequently we will cross data such as the age group, perceive in which social networks they are registered, which of them use them so as to have contact with news (understood that by news information we speak only of reliable information and published in the official pages, of the radio stations, television channels or the press), and how this information is delivered to them. Understand whether the consumption of news information is done in an accidental or intentional way, whether users make have the habit of going to the official media pages or if the information appears to them in their social networks feed. In order to answer these questions, it will be necessary to prepare a questionnaire, which will be answered later by Portuguese population of the Generations X, Y and Z, so that it is possible to perceive the difference between them in this particular subject.
