Abstract(s)
A construção deste relatório deu-me a oportunidade perceber o contributo e relevância
The present report focuses on the theme of Observation in Early Childhood Education, which I titled "I observe... you observe... - the importance of Observation in Early Childhood Education." This study was developed in two educational contexts, nursery and kindergarten, and its main objective is to understand the role and importance of observation in the educational practice of early childhood educators. The study is framed within the qualitative research paradigm, following the (research- action?) methodology. During this process, the main procedures for collecting information were observations, records, and document analysis, as well as the responses given by educators during the semi-structured interview I conducted. Content analysis was performed as an information processing procedure. Considering the research topic, I present four interventions that helped me understand the importance of observation in the educational practices of the cooperating educators, allowing me to answer the research question - In what way does observation influence the practice of an early childhood educator? The construction of this report gave me the opportunity to understand the contribution and relevance of observation in early childhood education in general and in particular. In the practice of the cooperating educators where I completed the internships within the scope of the master's degree, the observation of children and the reflection they made on the information collected were the basis of their educational practices. I thus understood that observation played a fundamental role in the educational practices of the cooperating educators, as it allowed them to get to know the children, plan and evaluate, as well as support and organize their educational action. This research promoted the deepening of my knowledge about observation, that is, I realized that the information collected through observation is the foundation of intentional and appropriate educational practices to meet the needs and interests of children
