Abstract(s)
reside neste contexto territorial.
dos dados utilizamos o programa estatístico Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (IBM
Currently demographic changes require the need to rethink the elderly's role in society. As such, social workers should identify the needs and expectations of the elderly, adopting strategies that lead to active and successful aging. In this context, the project presented here is supported in gerontology diagnostic data from Oliveira do Douro parish. The investigator, familiar with the local area, proceeds from an observation that existing responses do not meet the diversity of the older audience that resides in the local territorial context. Initially different local agents were interviewed, which was the starting point to identify the problems of the elderly. Then we applied the survey which included different dimensions - socio-demographic characterization; support networks and sociability; accessibility and living conditions; the lifestyle and leisure habits and health condition. Through this analysis we explored the types of income, the career path, the contact they keep with family, friends and neighbors and provided support, housing conditions and architectural barriers, tastes and daily activities practiced, the associativism and volunteering, projects they aim to participate as leisure time, how they evaluate their physical and cognitive health, health services and the type of response they idealize to use in the future. The sample consists of 78 individuals, considering as inclusion criteria age less or equal than 65 years, individuals not integrated in social responses and residing in Oliveira do Douro parish. For the treatment of the data we used the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (IBM SPSS) version 23.0 for Windows, in order to describe and characterize the sample in question. Later two discussion groups with 24 seniors were created to deepen the quantitative study. The results revealed different needs (low levels of education, limitations due to scarce economic resources, isolation, lack of family back-up, roads and accessibility in poor conditions, low association and voluntary participation, low investment in the promotion of active aging, emotional/social fragility in women and inequalities on health service access), which resulted in the elaboration of the project ARCHES consisting of two lines of intervention: creating a proactive pole and a preventive polo, based on the perspective of promoting biopsychosocial welfare of seniors and their social participation with an outlook to active and successful aging.
