intergeracionais no contexto autárquico português.
The present study aims to investigate and analyze the benefits that Generation X and Millennials bring to the workplace in three Portuguese municipalities: Lisbon, Porto, and Portalegre, with a particular focus on leadership. The objective is to understand how the values, characteristics, and experiences that distinguish these two generations contribute to leadership effectiveness within the selected municipalities. Additionally, the research explores how the leadership styles of these generations can positively influence organizational culture, fostering more collaborative, motivating, and productive work environments. The study will analyze the leadership styles adopted by professionals from both generations, their management strategies, and the interaction between different generations within the workplace context of each municipality. The choice of Generation X and Millennials is based on the stark differences in their values, experiences, and perspectives, shaped by the historical contexts in which they grew up. This contrast is particularly relevant for understanding leadership dynamics and how each generation addresses organizational challenges. In turn, the selection of Lisbon, Porto, and Portalegre as the focus of the study is justified by their distinct characteristics. Lisbon and Porto, due to their size and typographic similarities, represent comparable urban contexts, while Portalegre, with its markedly different profile, provides an alternative scenario for analysis. This geographical and socioeconomic diversity offers a comprehensive framework to explore how the specific contexts of each municipality influence leadership practices and the challenges faced by professionals from both generations. The interconnection between leadership, generations, and municipal contexts is central to this study, as it allows for an understanding of how leaders from different generations can contribute to organizational effectiveness in diverse realities. This research provides a comprehensive perspective on the relevance of generations in the exercise of leadership, contributing to a deeper understanding of intergenerational dynamics within the portuguese municipal context.
