Abstract(s)
This study is part of the Community Nursing and Public Health Internship of the Master's Degree in Nursing, carried out at a Public Health Unit and a Community Care Unit. The main objective was to promote health literacy in the prevention of alcohol consumption among adolescents, addressing a pressing problem in Portugal. To this end, the Health Planning methodology was adopted, culminating in a Community Intervention Project using Action Research. The intervention was designed based on a situation assessment that revealed knowledge gaps and the prevalence of dangerous myths among young people. The results showed that early alcohol consumption often occurs in the family environment, reinforcing the need for a systemic approach. Despite limitations in participation, the educational sessions were effective in empowering young people. It is concluded that the project, although focused on a specific population, serves as a model for intervention and reinforces the role of the specialist nurse in health promotion, serving as a basis for proposals to continue the work that aims to involve the family and school more effectively in the next school year.
