This report was developed as part of the "Professional Internship with Report - Module II" curricular unit and is part of the study plan for the Master's Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the Area of Nursing for People in Perioperative Situations at the Oporto School of Nursing, during the 2023/2024 academic year. The aim of this report is to reflect the progress made during the professional internship in the acquisition and development of Common and Specialized Clinical Skills in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the Area of Nursing for People in Perioperative Situations, after immersion in the internship contexts and the experiences gained. After reflection and supported by theoretical and practical knowledge, competences were developed in the fields of clinical, ethical and legal practice and in the management and planning of care, which are coherent and aligned with the competences of the specialist nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the Area of Nursing for People in Perioperative Situations. The internships were carried out in two health institutions in the north of Portugal, one in the context of ambulatory surgery and the other in conventional surgery. There were two main objectives during this professional internship. Firstly, to incorporate specialized clinical skills in the provision of advanced nursing care in the area of perioperative care into my personal project, integrating professional practice with the best available evidence, with a view to promoting and improving care and generating health gains. To this end, two clinical cases experienced during the internship are presented, which include the design of care according to the Nursing Ontology during the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases, prepared on the "e4nursing" educational platform, and which demonstrate the differentiated clinical skills developed based on autonomous decision-making in the face of real problems, and reflection on acquired knowledge and scientific evidence. And finally, to continue the project identified during the first stage of the internship, in the context of outpatient surgery, regarding the nursing care provided in the pre and post-operative period, more specifically to clients undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery, and to respond to this problem, the provision of care to the client, their family/significant person in the pre- and post-operative period after further research and analysis. As a result, we created a document to serve as a guideline for clients undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery, to be handed out at consultations.
