Abstract(s)
This report arises within the scope of the Master's Course in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of specialization in Nursing for People in Critical conditions and aims to describe analytically, critically, and reflectively the path undertaken for the acquisition of competencies that confer the degree of Master in Nursing and the title of Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the care of people in critical conditions. This academic journey included a professional internship in three different contexts: General Emergency Service, Gastroenterology Techniques Unit, and Intensive Care. With the propose of promoting professional and personal development that leads to a specialized nursing intervention, the central theme of the project chosen was Debriefing in disciplinary team after a critical event. Debriefing is a structured reflective practice, in a group, after an event, with the intention of contributing to the reflection, analysis, learning, and collective memory of the team's overall performance. This practice is particularly important in the sphere of caring for people in critical situations, where numerous stress-generating situations are experienced, as it can contribute not only to increasing the quality and safety of care provided but also providing healthcare professionals with the tools and necessary support to mitigate the negative psychological impact in this environment. Throughout this training process, it was necessary to deepen knowledge on this topic with the completion of a Scoping Review on: Applicability of Debriefing in Multidisciplinary Team in Emergency, which is included in this report. This journey was supported by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Care and Afaf Meleis's Theory of Transitions, and culminates in this report, which aims to reflect the activities that were determinant for the development and acquisition of competencies of the specialist nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the care of people in critical conditions.
