Abstract(s)
A e4Nursing
do procedimento.
The report being presented is part of the course "Professional Nature Internship - Module II" of the Master's Program in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the Critical Care Nursing area, for the academic year 2022/2023, at the Porto School of Nursing. The report aims to document the process of acquiring skills as a Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the field of Critical Care Nursing, to obtain a master's degree and the title of Nurse Specialist. The document follows an expository and critical-reflexive analysis methodology, focusing on the main activities carried out in the internship settings, specifically in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and the Local Unit of the Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Resistance Control Program (ULPPCIRA). In the scope of clinical practice, to support the activities and care design, the e4Nursing platform was used, framed within the NursingOntos nursing ontology. E4Nursing guided the application of knowledge and skills acquired throughout the master's program into clinical practice, which proved essential for the development of differentiated clinical competencies. The central theme of the competency development project was "Healthcareassociated bloodstream infection and intravenous medication preparation in the context of nursing care for critically ill patients." In this context, and as part of the activities conducted at UL-PPCIRA, I developed an observation grid based on a literature review to characterize nurses' clinical practice in intravenous medication preparation. A total of 66 observation instances were recorded, revealing deviations in some parameters aimed at procedure safety. These results represent an initial diagnosis and were shared within the contexts to facilitate the planning of future interventions with a perspective on continuous improvement in nursing care. The report structure follows a sequence that includes the characterization of the clinical practice contexts, the presentation of two clinical cases based on the e4Nursing platform, and a critical-reflexive analysis of the contribution of different activities to the development of common and specific competencies in the Critical Care Nursing field. In conclusion, the internship and the process of preparing this report have been significant contributions to my personal and professional development, instilling a desire to play a more active role in promoting the improvement of nursing clinical practice quality
