Abstract(s)
geral, com impacto funcional e estrutural, na criança e na família (Mameli et al., 2022;
Acute Respiratory Infection portrays the most common childhood respiratory disease and one of the main preventable causes of death (United Nations Internacional Children’s Emergency Fund, 2022). Due to the anatomical-physiological particularities, associated with the symptoms of the disease, the child is prone to a rapid worsening of the general condition, with functional and structural impact, on the child and on the family (Mameli et al., 2022; Pinto et al., 2017). Respiratory rehabilitation aims to minimize symptoms, prevent complications, and maximize the person's capacity, promoting their well-being and quality of life (Ordem dos Enfermeiros, 2018). Its implementation seems relevant in Acute Respiratory Infection in children however, scientific evidence is scarce, making it pertinent to develop research that minimizes this gap. The objectives of this study are to describe and analyze the Decision-Making Process in Rehabilitation Nursing, in the context of children hospitalized with Acute Respiratory Infection, according to the perspective of Specialist Nurses in Rehabilitation Nursing, experts in the area. For this purpose, a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study was developed using a focus group for data collection. A categorical content analysis was developed (Bardin, 2016), which allowed the description of the message content of the 9 participants. The investigation involved understanding the concept of the Decision-Making Process, the factors that affect it and the rationale for the stages of the Decision-Making Process in Rehabilitation Nursing in the context of children with Acute Respiratory Infection, having developed a proposal of oriented lines towards the practice of Rehabilitation Nursing in this context. It is considered essential the future research aimed at children with severe respiratory failure and the exploration of different individual contexts, as well as studies focused not only on technical intervention, but also on the experience of expert professionals and their holistic intervention.
