Abstract(s)
Esta investigação teve como objetivo principal identificar um modelo de competĂȘncias de
liderança para os chefes da PolĂcia de Segurança PĂșblica atendendo ao seu contexto de
trabalho em equipa e de acordo com a sua perceção para a obtenção de desempenhos
superiores nesta matéria. A escolha temåtica residiu na importùncia da liderança para a
mobilização de recursos humanos na PolĂcia de Segurança PĂșblica e por serem escassos os
estudos de liderança sobre este tipo de chefias diretas na instituição. Utilizou-se o método
quantitativo através da aplicação de um questionårio de Rouco (2012) com perguntas
fechadas a uma população de 2834 Chefes em efetividade de funçÔes e na pré-aposentação,
obtendo-se 323 respostas. Para a obtenção do modelo foi utilizado o mĂ©todo estatĂstico das
regressĂ”es lineares mĂșltiplas entre as 27 competĂȘncias em estudo (variĂĄveis independentes)
e dois fatores critério que definimos como sendo o estilo de liderança orientado para as
tarefas e o estilo de liderança orientado para as relaçÔes humanas (variåveis dependentes).
Os resultados da investigação sugeriram um modelo de competĂȘncias de liderança para o
contexto de trabalho em equipa dos chefes de polĂcia que assenta nas seguintes
competĂȘncias: Consideração; Proatividade; Otimismo e entusiasmo; Multiculturalidade;
InfluĂȘncia pelo exemplo.
The purpose of this research was to identify a model of leadership competencies for professionals in the career of chefes (first line management) of the PolĂcia de Segurança PĂșblica, taking into account their teamwork context and according to their perception of how to obtain superior performances in this area. The choice of this subject was based on the importance of leadership for the mobilisation of human resources in the PolĂcia de Segurança PĂșblica and also the fact that there are few studies on this type of direct leadership in the institution. The quantitative method was used through the application of a questionnaire Rouco (2012) with closed questions to a population of 2834 chiefs in permanent and pre-retirement situations, collecting 323 answers. To obtain the model, the statistical method of multiple linear regressions was used between the 27 competencies under study (independent variables) and two criterion factors which we defined as being task-oriented leadership style and human relations-oriented leadership style (dependent variables). The research findings suggested a model of leadership competencies for the teamwork context of Police Chiefs that is based on the following competencies: Consideration; Proactivity; Optimism and enthusiasm; Multiculturality; Influence by example.
