Abstract(s)
O tema deste Trabalho de Investigação Aplicada que aqui se apresenta é “A União Europeia na Segurança e Estabilidade de Cabo Verde” cujo objectivo é analisar o papel da União na promoção da Segurança e Estabilidade de Cabo Verde. Para tal, foi efectuado um enquadramento teórico-conceptual, onde se explica alguns conceitos da temática da política externa cabo-verdiana e da UE, bem como o historial das relações entre estes dois actores internacionais.
A metodologia utilizada neste enquadramento teórico foi uma abordagem qualitativa explanatória que se baseia na análise documental e bibliográfica.
Numa segunda fase foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas para complementar as ideias extraídas das análises documentais e bibliográficas, com o intuito de entender melhor algumas das dimensões sociais existentes entre as variáveis.
Quanto aos resultados verificou-se que a UE desempenha um papel fundamental como
catalisador de segurança, para o desenvolvimento de Cabo Verde, promovendo a paz e a estabilidade numa das principais portas de entrada à Europa.
Contudo, numa outra perspectiva, Cabo Verde poderá auxiliar a União no reforço da segurança e estabilidade na região onde se insere, quer servindo como um interface para a África Ocidental, quer no controlo dos ilícitos vindo do sul em direcção à Europa.
Abstract The theme of this applied research presented here is "The European Union on Security and Stability of Cape Verde" whose purpose is to analyze the Union's role in promoting Security and Stability of Cape Verde. For this purpose, we performed a theoretical and conceptual framework, which explains the concepts of foreign policy theme of Cape Verde and the EU, as well as the historical relations between these two international players. The methodology used in this theoretical framework was the qualitative explanatory approach which one is based on documentary and bibliographical analysis. On the second phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted to complement the ideas drawn from the documental and bibliographical analysis, in order to better understand some of the social dimensions between the variables. The results showed that the EU plays a key role as a catalyst for security, the development of Cape Verde, promoting peace and stability in one of the main gateways to Europe. However, in another perspective, Cape Verde will help the Union in strengthening security and stability in the region where it operates, whether serving as an interface for West Africa, whether to control the illicit activities from the south towards Europe.
