Abstract(s)
Doentes submetidos a
utilizando a Behavioral Pain Scale (BPS).
Pain is a unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue injury and it is considered the 5th vital sign. Patients undergoing sedation and invasive mechanical ventilation are unable to communicate na self-assess pain, making it challenge to assess it with the application of the instruments in use, numerical and qualitative scale. In this contexto, the importance of using pain assessment scales through subjective behavior observation using the behavior pain scale (BPS). Among the various activities carried out during this stage, of the master’s degree in nursing, a major professional intervention was developed with the objective of contributing to the imporvement of pain management in patients sedated under invasive mechanical ventilation in a pre-hospital context, wich is presented in detail and based on this report. Among other aspects of this work include the Foundation of the problema, the underlying conceptual and theoretical framework, as well as detailed description of the stages of the project methodology related to the development of the said intervention. Throughout this report, emphasis is also placed on the carrying out of a reflective and reasone analysis of the process of acquiring and developing the competencies of the master’s degree in nursing, as well as common and specific competencies of the nurse specializing in medical surgical nursing – the person in a critical situation.
