A área da saúde tem vindo a evoluir significativamente ao longo dos anos, impulsionada tanto pela inovação científica quanto tecnológica. Com a pandemia de COVID-19, esse processo foi fortemente acelerado, permitindo uma transformação digital mais desenvolvida e extensa. Contudo, esta evolução não se tem verificado de forma homogênea entre as diversas áreas da saúde, sendo a osteopatia um bom exemplo dessa discrepância.
A presente dissertação tem como objetivo o desenvolvimento de uma aplicação móvel, designada OsteoNote, que visa orientar e apoiar a tomada de decisão do osteopata através de uma plataforma digital integrada e centralizada no utilizador. A aplicação adota várias ferramentas úteis para a prática clínica diária de um osteopata e, adicionalmente, incorpora um módulo de apoio denominado OsteoChat, baseado em inteligência artificial.
A metodologia adotada incluiu um estudo de mercado das soluções digitais existentes, bem como a realização de uma entrevista semiestruturada a um osteopata, em prática clínica independente. Esta estratégia permitiu identificar lacunas funcionais, assim como limitações recorrentes nas aplicações atualmente utilizadas. De forma a garantir uma possível expansividade, foram entrevistados dez profissionais de saúde de diferentes áreas, de modo a compreender a evolução da aplicação. Com base nos dados recolhidos, procedeu-se ao desenvolvimento da aplicação OsteoNote, seguindo princípios de usabilidade e design centrado no utilizador.
Os resultados foram obtidos através de uma avaliação qualitativa, dos quais revelou-se uma perceção geral positiva relativamente à usabilidade, ao design e ao alinhamento funcional da aplicação com o fluxo real de trabalho de um osteopata. O feedback recolhido confirmou a necessidade de soluções digitais mais atualizadas neste domínio, e evidenciou o potencial da aplicação enquanto ferramenta de apoio à prática osteopática.
Deste modo concluiu-se que a aplicação OsteoNote constitui uma solução digital relevante e promissora para a modernização da prática osteopática, contribuindo para uma maior eficiência e apoio à tomada de decisão clínica.
The healthcare field has evolved significantly over the years, driven by both scientific and technological innovation. With the COVID-19 pandemic, this process was greatly accelerated, allowing for a more developed and extensive digital transformation. However, this evolution has not been homogeneous across the various areas of healthcare, with osteopathy being a good example of this discrepancy. This dissertation aims to develop a mobile application, called OsteoNote, which aims to guide and support the osteopath's decision-making through an integrated and user-centric digital platform. The application adopts several useful tools for the daily clinical practice of an osteopath and, additionally, incorporates a support module called OsteoChat, based on artificial intelligence. The methodology adopted included a market study of existing digital solutions, as well as conducting a semi-structured interview with an osteopath in independent clinical practice. This strategy allowed us to identify functional gaps, as well as recurring limitations in the applications currently used. In order to ensure potential scalability, ten healthcare professionals from different areas were interviewed to understand the evolution of the application. Based on the data collected, the OsteoNote application was developed, following principles of usability and user-centered design. The results were obtained through a qualitative assessment, which revealed a generally positive perception regarding the usability, design, and functional alignment of the application with the actual workflow of an osteopath. The feedback collected confirmed the need for more up-to-date digital solutions in this field and highlighted the potential of the application as a tool to support osteopathic practice. Thus, it was concluded that the OsteoNote application constitutes a relevant and promising digital solution for the modernization of osteopathic practice, contributing to greater efficiency and support for clinical decision-making.
