Abstract(s)
A presente dissertação, intitulada “Turismo da Memória - As raízes judaicas na região centro de
Portugal”, tem como objetivo compreender o grau de valor deste tipo de turismo na região centro
do país e a viabilidade de criação de um roteiro judaico, dentro desta mesma região.
Portugal possui uma longa e interessante história com o povo judaico. No entanto, esta história é
pouco conhecida até mesmo pelos portugueses. Tendo em conta a história e o património
associado, é compreensível que o turismo judaico tenha sido um dos tipos de micro turismo com
crescimento mais rápido dos últimos anos. Por outro lado, este tipo de turismo é de difícil
enquadramento dentro das diferentes tipologias de turismo. Esta dificuldade criou a necessidade
de o definir, bem como à história à qual está associado.
O estudo de caso por nós desenvolvido, requereu não só uma revisão bibliográfica, mas também
a aplicação de dois conjuntos de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Embora fosse importante e
interessante o desenvolvimento de um inquérito sobre este tema, tal não foi possível. O atual
pequeno número deste tipo de turistas, agravado pela presente pandemia do Covid-19,
inviabilizou essa possibilidade.
Este estudo permitiu concluir que a região centro não tem recursos nem desenvolvimento, para o
turismo judaico ser um produto âncora na região. No entanto, este é, efetivamente, um produto
âncora em algumas localizações da região centro e poderá um dia vir a ser, noutras regiões.
Relativamente à possibilidade de desenvolvimento/criação de um roteiro judaico na região centro,
verificou-se que pode ser desenvolvido, devendo ter-se particular atenção no interesse de cada
grupo de visitantes e na tipologia em que estes se inserem. Por outras palavras, deve ter-se em
conta se se trata de turistas judeus seculares ou ortodoxos.
This dissertation, entitled "Memory Tourism - Jewish roots in central Portugal", aims to understand the degree of value of tourism in the central region and the feasibility of creating a Jewish itinerary within this same region. Portugal has had a long and interesting history with the Jewish people, however this history is little known, even by the Portuguese people. Given this history, and associated heritage, it is understandable that Jewish tourism has been one of the fastest growing types of micro-tourism in recent years. This type of tourism, in turn, is complicated to fit into the different types of tourism, and as such we feel the need to define it, as well as the history to which it is associated. The case study developed by us required the use of not only a literature review, but also a series of exploratory and later practical interviews. Although in fact it was interesting to develop a survey on this topic, this was not possible due to the small number of tourists of the type analyzed here and the present covid-19 pandemic. This study allowed us to conclude that the central region does not have resources and development for Jewish tourism to be an anchor product within this region, but this is effectively an anchor product in some locations within the central region and may one day be in others as well. Regarding the development of a tour, a Jewish tour in the central region can be developed, paying particular attention to the interest of each group of visitors and the typology in which they belong, or in other words, whether they are secular or Orthodox.
