Abstract(s)
This report details the internship experience carried out at Clínica Sanfil, between September 28, 2023 and January 12, 2024, as part of the requirements for completing the Master's Degree in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy. During this period, 300 ordinary hours were completed, with a main focus on the magnetic resonance modality. The choice of this internship was based on the desire to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired throughout the course in clinical practice, specifically in the field of magnetic resonance. In addition, the aim was to develop professional sense, familiarizing oneself with different ways of working and advanced technologies, in addition to promoting personal growth through interaction with a different culture. The internship allowed an in-depth understanding of the functioning and structure of the magnetic resonance modality at Clínica Sanfil. Among the most frequently performed tests, the following stand out: magnetic resonance imaging of the pituitary gland to investigate sella turcica syndrome, magnetic resonance imaging of the ears to investigate vestibular schwannoma, magnetic resonance imaging of the lumbar spine as a method of investigating herniated discs, multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate for the diagnosis and staging of prostate cancer, and magnetic resonance imaging of the breasts for screening for breast cancer. Important technical aspects, such as the operation of the magnetic resonance imaging equipment, the safety applied to the service, and the use of artificial intelligence in the equipment software, were also covered based on scientific articles and specialized literature. The internship resulted in significant growth, both professionally and personally. It provided a solid foundation for a future career in Radiology, enabling the consolidation of technical skills and the expansion of communication, adaptation and teamwork capabilities.
