Abstract(s)
Defende a unicidade cultural
Regenerative Design and Development is an environmentally responsible design practice that wishes to reintegrate humans into natural systems, as co-participating agents. It aims to develop human systems that beneficial and mutually impact all ecological, social, cultural and economic systems, maintaining the dynamic integrity of the planet through an ecological worldview, which is guided by living systems thinking and aspires to generational perpetuation. It aims to implement an indigenous philosophy of love and respect for Nature and to incite a renewal of the current mechanistic worldview. It advocates cultural oneness through a bottom-up scale connection, environmental education and collaborative interdisciplinarity. It internalises the unpredictability of the world, through long-term projection that adapts to change, by continuous monitoring by a plurality of stakeholders, not only professional but also community ones, thus developing their capacities. It is guided by a message of hope, reflecting deeply on previous crises and paradigms, becoming inwardly aware of the impact of design activity, through an environmental ethic, to optimise the future. Based on this problematic, the current dissertation intends to respond to the main gap identified in literature, between an ideal ideology and a feasible practice to be implemented, developing a guidance tool that allows designers to adopt a regenerative conduct. The methodology adopted was Content Analysis, inspired and adapted from the method present in the work Real World Research, by Robson (2002), which consists of a qualitative, detailed and thorough study of the authors' discourse analysis, synthesising and systematising their key ideas and the premises debated, with the aim of generating a set of Principles of Regenerative Design and Development. The final product of ten Regenerative Principles, aims above all to awaken a change in the thinking models of designers, stimulating a paradigm transition in design and in the development of society. It is believed that developing Principles will be the first step towards the evolution of more useful tools and methodologies for this practice, since currently it is still centred on an ideal conception, still lacking supports to grow.
