Na Indústria Hoteleira, o turnover é notavelmente alto,
geralmente decorrente de limitadas oportunidades de
crescimento, cargas de trabalho intensas, falta de
flexibilidade, escassas perspetivas de promoção e
reconhecimento, entre outros fatores. O employee
engagement elevado é frequentemente associado a níveis
superiores de desempenho, o que o torna um foco
significativo para managers de recursos humanos e
investigadores. Consequentemente, investir em estratégias
de gestão de recursos humanos que sustentem uma força de
trabalho robusta e melhorem o engagement dos funcionários
torna-se cada vez mais vantajoso. O propósito deste estudo é
examinar o grau de employee engagement na indústria
hoteleira a fim de investigar possíveis correlações entre este,
a satisfação no trabalho e o turnover.
Esta investigação pode ser de extrema relevância para a área
em questão, considerando o elevado turnover dos seus
quadros e a sua sensibilidade às flutuações económicas. A
identificação e mensuração dos fatores que a afetam abrem
oportunidades para controlar essa volatilidade, agindo sobre
tais elementos.
In the Hospitality Industry, the turnover is notably high, usually due to the limited growth opportunities, intense workloads, lack of flexibility and possibilities of promotion and recognition, amongst other factors. The high employee engagement is frequently associated with high levels of performance, making it a significant point for Human Resources Managers and researchers. Consequently, investing in Human Resources Management strategies able to sustain a robust workforce and improve employee engagement becomes more and more advantageous. The main goal of this study is to examine the level of employee engagement in the Hospitality Industry in Portugal to investigate possible correlations between engagement, work satisfaction and turnover. This investigation could be extremely relevant to the field in question, considering the high turnover in its companies and the sensibility of the economic fluctuations. The identification and measurement of the factors that affect her, open opportunities to control that volatility, acting upon those elements.
