Abstract(s)
O declínio populacional em Portugal tem sido parcialmente compensado pela imigração, com
destaque para os brasileiros, a maior comunidade imigrante no país. Assim, esta pesquisa
busca compreender o processo de adaptação ao mercado local dos imigrantes brasileiros
que atuam no setor das Tecnologias de Informação (TI). A contratação de população
imigrante por parte da área de TI tem se mostrado uma estratégia crucial para suprir a falta
de mão-de-obra qualificada e enfrentar desafios demográficos e económicos. Portanto, o
estudo dos fluxos migratórios é essencial para identificar tendências e necessidades,
sobretudo no mercado laboral, já que se espera que a integração dos imigrantes seja
acompanhada por ações que favoreçam sua adaptação ao contexto sociocultural do país.
Em termos metodológicos, este estudo seguiu uma abordagem qualitativa, com o intuito de
identificar e explorar como os imigrantes brasileiros vivenciam a sua socialização e integração
no mercado de TI em Portugal. Procurou-se também compreender as motivações para a
migração, as barreiras enfrentadas e as estratégias de adaptação cultural e profissional. A
técnica de recolha de dados escolhida foi a entrevista semidiretiva. Foram entrevistados oito
profissionais de TI brasileiros a trabalhar em Portugal e o tratamento dos dados baseou-se
na análise de conteúdo.
Os resultados revelam uma aceitação dos profissionais brasileiros no mercado de trabalho
português. No entanto, apesar dos indicativos teóricos de que os processos de socialização
e aculturação são elementos-chave para a plena integração destes profissionais, tanto no
mercado de trabalho como na sociedade em geral, essa integração plena ainda não foi
totalmente experienciada por grande parte dos profissionais entrevistados. Assim, verificou se uma formação de “guetos” com outros imigrantes, limitando a sua vivência no ambiente
de trabalho aos aspetos técnicos. Destaca-se ainda a falta de iniciativas por parte das
empresas para promover ativamente a socialização e aceitação das diferenças culturais.
The population decline in Portugal has been partially compensated by immigration, particularly from Brazilians, who represent the largest immigrant community in the country. Thus, this research aims to understand the adaptation process of Brazilian immigrants working in the Information Technology (IT) sector to the local market. The hiring of immigrant populations by the IT sector has proven to be a crucial strategy to address the shortage of qualified labor and to face demographic and economic challenges. Therefore, studying migratory flows is essential to identify trends and needs, especially in the labor market, as it is expected that the integration of immigrants will be accompanied by actions that favor their adaptation to the sociocultural context of the country. In methodological terms, this study followed a qualitative approach, aiming to identify and explore how Brazilian immigrants experience their socialization and integration into the IT market in Portugal. It also sought to understand the motivations for migration, the barriers faced, and the strategies for cultural and professional adaptation. The data collection method chosen was the semi-structured interview. Eight Brazilian IT professionals working in Portugal were interviewed, and the data were processed through content analysis. The results reveal an acceptance of Brazilian professionals in the Portuguese job market. However, despite theoretical indications that socialization and acculturation processes are key elements for the full integration of these professionals, both in the labor market and in society at large, many of the interviewees have not yet fully experienced this integration. As a result, "ghettos" have formed with other immigrants, limiting their workplace experience to technical aspects. Moreover, there is a notable lack of initiatives from companies to actively promote socialization and the acceptance of cultural differences.
