Abstract(s)
O cuidado à criança/jovem e família é dotado de extrema complexidade e carece
de atualização constante do conhecimento. Cuidar de crianças com doença crónica
complexa, limitante ou ameaçadora de vida, é um processo complexo e exigente. É uma
área especializada de cuidados, que tem o seu foco de atenção na vida da criança/jovem
doente e da sua família, procurando colmatar todas as necessidades do ponto de vista
psicossocial, espiritual e físico, devendo estar a todos os que necessitem.
O propósito deste trabalho surge da preocupação, enquanto profissional de saúde
e cidadã, em respeitar o direito de todos a viver com dignidade e qualidade até ao fim.
Foi realizada uma revisão integrativa da literatura com o objetivo de dar resposta
à questão de investigação: “Qual a intervenção do Enfermeiro Especialista em Saúde
Infantil e Pediátrica na referenciação da criança/jovem e família para cuidados paliativos
pediátricos?”. A literatura mais recente mostra-nos que vários são os fatores que
influenciam negativamente o acesso e referenciação para estes cuidados, nomeadamente
a ideia enviesada e preconceituosa de que cuidados paliativos só são necessários quando
nada mais há a fazer pela criança. Muitos profissionais de saúde sentem-se pouco
confortáveis no acompanhamento de crianças em situação de doença progressiva ou
terminal e a sua formação nesta área é, ainda, muito escassa.
Pretendemos dar resposta a esta questão com uma proposta de intervenção para a
referenciação de crianças em cuidados paliativos pelo Enfermeiro Especialista em Saúde
Infantil.
Child/adolescent and family care is extremely complex and requires constant knowledge update. Caring for children with a complex chronic, life-limiting or life threatening illness is a complex and demanding process. It is a specialized area of care that focuses on the life of the sick child/adolescent and his family, aiming on meeting all the psychosocial, spiritual and physical needs. Therefore, they should be accessible to all who need them. The purpose of this paper arises from the concern, as a health professional and citizen, to respect everyone's right to live with dignity and quality until the end. An integrative literature review was conducted with the purpose of answering the research question: "What is the intervention of the Pediatrics Specialist Nurse in the referral of the child/adolescent and family to pediatric palliative care?”. The most recent literature shows us that several factors negatively influence the access and referral to this type of care, including the biased and prejudiced idea that palliative care is only necessary when there is nothing left to do for the child. Many health professionals feel uncomfortable in caring for children with progressive or terminal illnesses and their training in this area is still very scarce. We aim to answer this question with an intervention proposal for child/adolescent referral to palliative care by the Pediatric Specialist Nurse.
