Abstract(s)
This work aims to analyse the contributions of the Military Group of Civil Support No. 2 in Military Emergency Support in the Azores Archipelago, in a situation of natural disaster. Through a qualitative strategy, using document analysis and interviews, we can say that this Unit acts in the Eastern Group, and may reinforce the other Groups or be reinforced by means of the region or the mainland. As the Azores is a region where natural risks are very present, to a greater or lesser degree, the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service coordinates the actions of all civil protection agents. From the results obtained, we can say that the Military Group of Civil Support No. 2 has a central role in support and collaboration, through its human and material means, but also through its contribution as part of an integrated system. Fortunately, no natural disasters of considerable severity have occurred in the Eastern Group, however, this Unit must be able to contribute in a decisive way to respond according to its reaction capacity, resilience, and capabilities. Therefore, training and practise are fundamental to the efficient and effective performance of the tasks assigned in the Military Emergency Support in civil support operations.
