Hoje em dia, existe uma preocupação constante pela estética. Na área de ortodontia a procura por aparelhos menos visíveis é uma constatação. O facto do aparelho ortodôntico ter passado a ser também popular junto da população adulta, aumentou o
nível de exigência no que diz respeito à visibilidade do mesmo.
De forma a contornar as exigências requeridas no que diz respeito à estética durante o tratamento, foram várias as técnicas que surgiram no mercado com o objetivo de tornar invisível ou menos percetível a permanência do aparelho ortodôntico na cavidade oral.
A técnica lingual, os brackets estéticos e os alinhadores invisíveis são opções que têm sido investigadas e desenvolvidas no âmbito de corrigir as maloclusões da população permitindo, ao mesmo tempo, satisfazer o desejo dos pacientes relativamente à estética.
Esta revisão de literatura tem com objetivo analisar as várias técnicas estéticas existentes, abordando a sua evolução, caraterísticas e fatores diferenciais.
Nowadays, there is a constant concern for aesthetics. In the area of orthodontics, the search for less visible appliances is a fact. The fact that the orthodontic appliance has also become popular with the adult population has increased the level of demand regarding its visibility. In order to circumvent the required requirements regarding aesthetics during treatment, several techniques have appeared in the market with the aim of making invisible or less noticeable the permanence of the orthodontic appliance in the oral cavity. The lingual technique, aesthetic brackets and invisible aligners are options that have been investigated and developed in order to correct the malocclusions of the population, while at the same time satisfying the patient’s desire for aesthetics. This literature review aims to analyze some aesthetic techniques, addressing their evolution, characteristics and differential factors.
