Abstract(s)
ondas do movimento feminista.
identidade e aumentou o alcance do movimento,
respondendo aos contextos históricos e sociopolíticos da
altura.
A metodologia adotada combina a análise visual e
This research focuses on the evolution of communication strategies and activist design throughout the different waves of the feminist movement. Taking an interdisciplinary approach that intersects graphic design, visual communication, and feminist studies, it is based on the idea that visual language is an essential tool for resistance, mobilization, and social transformation. Through the analysis of visual materials such as posters, zines, photographs, campaigns, and publications, the study aims to understand how each feminist “wave” built its identity and expanded the movement’s reach in response to the historical and sociopolitical contexts of its time. The methodology combines visual and contextual analysis, considering not only the formal characteristics of graphic artifacts, but also their contexts of production, circulation, and reception. Special attention is given to how digital technologies have influenced contemporary activism. As a result, the study proposes an infographic that visually synthesizes the evolution of feminist communication, serving as both a pedagogical tool and a critical reflection. This dissertation thus aims to contribute to the ongoing debate on the role of design in social transformation, highlighting its importance as a language of resistance and a force for gender equality and justice.
