Abstract(s)
• Avaliar a relação entre a instabilidade laboral e a sinistralidade no trabalho;
The study of work accidents is one of the most analysed factors in the organizational approach and fundamental to acquire knowledge as regards to prevention of work accidents. In general this is an area that concerns any organisation and in particular the mining industry, not only from the socio-economic point of view but also from the legal responsibility in that it is a high risk activity. One of the many ways to prevent work accidents is to know the basics causes why those unplanned events happen and interfere in the process of the activities and cause loss of time, injuries and material damage. The present case study aims to: • Evaluate the relationship between labour instability and work accidents; • Relate the work accidents with the concept of work. To this were taken as reference the accidents which occurred in the known period between 1995 and 2010 inclusive and analogy in a period of labour unrest that occurred from July 1997 to June 2001. In the studied period there were 402 accidents with lost time, in that 262 occurred in the period of labour instability. Therefore, this analysis, allowed us to observe that the average of lost time accidents frequency rate is 15.58 and the average period of labour instability was 32.80, in this case there was an increase of 210.53% in relation to previous yearly average. If one of the assumptions of a worthy work concept is to prevent accidents at work, so in our case study it is essential to ensure the stability of employment in order to achieve that condition. At the end of this study we present some future perspectives in the sense that further studies are carried out on this issue to develop new knowledge about this factor of influence on the performance of safety.
