“P’ra cá do Marão . . .” Segurança e satisfação com a atividade policial, nas cidades de Vila Real e Chaves

dc.description.abstractA necessidade de segurança é uma condição fundamental para o bem-estar e a qualidade de vida dos cidadãos. A insegurança pode levar a uma sociedade onde os indivíduos adotam comportamentos de autodefesa e estratégias pessoais para se protegerem, resultando num ambiente de medo e desconfiança. Quando os cidadãos sentem que o Estado não consegue garantir adequadamente a sua proteção, há um risco significativo de deterioração das relações comunitárias e do tecido social. Uma segurança pública eficaz é crucial, não apenas para a prevenção do crime, mas também para a manutenção da coesão social e da confiança entre os membros da comunidade. Faz parte do núcleo central de interesse do presente estudo, o conhecimento da satisfação com a atividade policial e a identificação dos principais fatores que influenciam, ou não, as diferenças na perceção de segurança de cidadãos de duas cidades distintas. Este estudo, direcionado aos habitantes das cidades de Vila Real e de Chaves, residentes na área de jurisdição da Polícia de Segurança Pública, visa conhecer e efetuar uma comparação de dados para, se necessário, estabelecer um diagnóstico identificando-se os aspetos críticos, por forma a sugerir a implantação de ações de melhoria que possam potenciar a promoção da segurança naquelas cidades e, consequentemente, do bem estar dos seus habitantes. Dessa forma, elaborámos e aplicámos um inquérito por questionário como instrumento de recolha de opiniões junto das pessoas residentes nas referidas cidades, cujos resultados visam estimular a discussão e formulação de propostas.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractThe need for security is a fundamental condition for the well-being and quality of life of citizens. Insecurity can lead to a society where individuals adopt self-defense behaviors and personal strategies to protect themselves, resulting in an environment of fear and distrust. When citizens feel that the State is unable to adequately guarantee their protection, there is a significant risk of deterioration of community relations and the social fabric. Effective public security is crucial, not only for crime prevention, but also for maintaining social cohesion and trust among community members. The knowledge of satisfaction with police activity and the identification of the main factors that influence, or do not influence, the differences in the perception of safety of citizens in two different cities are part of the central core of interest of the present study. This study, aimed at the inhabitants of the cities of Vila Real and Chaves, residing in the area of jurisdiction of the Public Security Police, aims to understand and carry out a comparison of data to, if necessary, establish a diagnosis, identifying the critical aspects by in order to suggest the implementation of improvement actions that can enhance the promotion of safety in those cities and, consequently, the well-being of their inhabitants. Therefore, we developed and applied a questionnaire survey as an instrument for collecting opinions from people living in the aforementioned cities, the results of which aim to stimulate discussion and formulate proposals.pt_PT
