Abstract(s)
With the increase of homeless people in Brazil, institutions known as “third sector companies” start to appear to support the construction of a fairer and safer society. Understanding this reality, the NGO Argilando’s project Mini Gentilezas (also known as Mini Kindness) appears in Rio de Janeiro in May 2016. Its proposal is to promote campaigns for the collection of personal hygiene products, which are claimed for the homeless situation. However, one of the main problems of the third sector is the fact that it does not generate profits, and after three years of project, this fact is stopping the process of further development. One way to obtain some kind of maintenance and even keep growing is through donations and investments. To achieve this, it’s necessary to demonstrate the value generated in the project, to justify its importance. The SROI methodology arises for this purpose, measuring the social impact of an investment, whatever it may be. The aim of this thesis was to analyze the methodology, using a quantitative approach to apply the SROI in the Mini Gentilezas and to verify if the project has a return that justifies seeking more investments.
