O Uniforme de Serviço Operacional constitui uma ferramenta central da atividade policial, reunindo dimensões funcionais, identitárias e institucionais. A presente dissertação teve
como objetivo avaliar o grau de satisfação dos polícias da Polícia de Segurança Pública relativamente ao USO. Para tal, desenvolveu-se um estudo quantitativo, através da aplicação de um inquérito por questionário a polícias utilizadores deste uniforme, obtendo-se uma amostra válida de 1101 participantes. Os dados foram analisados através de técnicas de estatística descritiva e inferencial. Os resultados evidenciam uma satisfação global predominantemente desfavorável, associada significativamente às dimensões avaliadas, sobretudo à confiança e sentimento de pertença, à adequação às exigências físicas da atividade policial e ao conforto geral. Identificaram-se ainda fragilidades na numeração e tamanhos, na resistência ao uso e às lavagens e no Barrete Operacional. O estudo contribui para a reflexão institucional sobre a adequação funcional do fardamento policial.
The Operational Service Uniform (USO) is a central tool in police activity, combining functional, identity-related and institutional dimensions. This dissertation aimed to assess the degree of satisfaction of Polícia de Segurança Pública police officers with the USO. A quantitative study was conducted through a questionnaire applied to police officers who use this uniform, resulting in a valid sample of 1101 participants. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results show a predominantly unfavourable level of overall satisfaction, significantly associated with the assessed dimensions, particularly confidence and sense of belonging, suitability to the physical demands of police activity, and general comfort. Weaknesses were also identified regarding sizing and fit, resistance to use and washing, and the Operational Cap. This study contributes to institutional reflection on the functional adequacy of police uniforms.
