O presente relatório descreve o percurso formativo desenvolvido no âmbito da
This report describes the training pathway developed within the Professional Internship with Report curricular unit of the Master’s Degree in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing, aimed at acquiring specialist nurse, midwife and master’s competencies. The objectives defined were to analyse freedom of movement during labour and its contribution to the satisfaction of the pregnant woman/couple, aiming to promote a positive childbirth experience, as well as to develop specialist nurse, midwife, and master’s competencies, with particular emphasis on freedom of movement and the promotion of maternal/couple satisfaction. The theoretical framework was supported by a literature review and Katharine Kolcaba’s Comfort Theory, which understands comfort as a holistic phenomenon. In this context, the midwife’s intervention in promoting freedom of movement during labour contributes to women’s comfort and well-being, allowing them to adopt comfortable positions and actively participate in the birth process. Mobility facilitates the physiological progression of labour, reduces pain perception, and strengthens women’s autonomy, promoting a positive and humanised childbirth experience. Throughout the different clinical training contexts, interventions focused on promoting freedom of movement, health education, empowerment of the woman/couple, and raising nursing teams’ awareness of evidence-based practices were developed. It is concluded that this pathway enabled the acquisition and development of specialist nurse, midwife, and master’s competencies, supported by reflective practice and the promotion of specialised and humanised care.
