Abstract(s)
The following report was written within the scope of the Curricular Unit Report, integrated in the VI Masters Course in Association Nursing, specializing in Medical-Surgical Nursing - The person in critical situation. Its main goal is to to describe in a substantiate, critical and reflective way the process of acquisition and development of common and specific skills of the Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing - The person in critical situation and Master in Nursing, focusing on the activities developed during the final intership. It is important to highlight the professional intervention project under the theme “High Flow Nasal Cannula: recommendations for daily practice in critical care”. This project was developed according to the project methodology and supported by the model for practice change based on evidence by June Larrabee. High Flow Nasal Cannula is increasingly used in the approach to critically ill patients. Although the available evidence is recent studies show its effectiveness in an increasingly wide range of situations, with physiological benefits that, in some cases, prevent endotracheal intubation. The standardization of good practices is therefore a vehicle to promote the quality and safety of care, with an impact on the success of the therapy and on the patient´s prognosis.
