Este trabalho de investigação incide sobre os riscos associados à internacionalização e sobre as técnicas de gestão dos riscos que poderão ser utilizadas para os mitigar. Assim, o objetivo principal da investigação foi evidenciar como uma empresa portuguesa do ramo do abastecimento naval, com a sua atividade centralizada em clientes internacionais, está exposta aos riscos de internacionalização e como atua para mitigar tais riscos. Nesse sentido, a metodologia de investigação utilizada foi o estudo de caso. Verificou-se que, embora a empresa estivesse sujeita aos riscos do país, de crédito e cambial, e estes fossem relevantes no funcionamento e nos resultados da atividade, não utilizava qualquer técnica de gestão de riscos. Sendo assim, foi proposto um modelo para a gestão desses riscos, de forma a atenuar o seu impacto na atividade e melhorar e agilizar as operações futuras, bem como os resultados financeiros.
Abstract: This research focuses on the risks associated with globalization and on the risk management techniques that may be used to mitigate them. Therefore, the main objective of the research was to demonstrate how a Portuguese company in the sector of the Ship-Chandler, with an activity focused in international customers, is exposed to the risks of internationalization and how it operates to mitigate such risks. Consequently, the research methodology used was the case study. It was observed that even though the company was subjected to country risk, credit risk and foreign exchange, which had an impact on the functioning and activity results, it did not apply any risk management technique. For that reason, a model for the management of these risks has been proposed in order to mitigate their impact on activity and improve and streamline future operations and financial results.
