Abstract(s)
Musculoskeletal disorders are pathologies that affect various structures of the body, ranging from mild pain to more complex clinical situations. These are injuries with the potential to lead to a transitory or permanent incapacity for work, causing an overload for health professionals, organizations and society and which translate into a decrease in quality of life and a individual, institutional and social economic impact. The general objective of this dissertation is to analyze the pain and discomfort associated with Work-Related Musculoskeletal Injuries in Immediate Life Support ambulance nurses. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive-correlational study with a quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out during the second half of May and the first half of June 2024.The data collection instrument was the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire, adapted to the portuguese population. In this study, the high occurrence of musculoskeletal symptoms (96.7%) stands out. The Lumbar Region is the body segment with the highest self-reported symptoms (77.2%), just like the ones reported in international studies. It is imperative to formulate and implement prevention, identification and rehabilitation strategies, highlighting the contribution of the Rehabilitation Nursing Specialist Nurse in the creation of a intervention project aimed at preventing and reducing the incidence of symptoms, as well as a survey of the working conditions that contribute to the higher degree of risk of developing this symptomatology, in order to create measures to mitigate the identified facts.
