| dc.description.abstract | A tomada de decisão é transversal ao ser humano, no nosso quotidiano tomam-se decisões frequentemente, tanto pessoal como profissionalmente. O ambiente dos grandes eventos políticos é considerado complexo devido ao elevado número de pessoas, à sua imprevisibilidade e à quantidade de informação que requer. Assim, afigura-se pertinente estudar quais são as estratégias utilizadas pelo decisor para enfrentar esses desafios. Por outro lado, o avanço tecnológico tem impactado as nossas vidas, tanto a nível pessoal como profissional. Nesta investigação, procurou-se desvendar se os veículos aéreos não tripulados (VANT) influenciam a tomada de decisão dos comandantes policiais em grandes eventos políticos. Para tal, realizou-se um estudo qualitativo em contexto naturalista, onde se acompanhou três grandes eventos políticos, por forma a compreender o processo de tomada decisão com recurso a VANT. A recolha de dados fez-se através da pesquisa documental, observação e recurso à técnica think aloud, tendo sido posteriormente sujeitos a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados revelam que o recurso aos VANT influencia o processo de tomada de decisão no terreno – observação e think aloud – dotando o decisor de informações constantemente atualizadas e possibilitando um acompanhamento constante dos manifestantes e do efetivo policial, permitindo ao decisor avaliar permanentemente o policiamento, recorrendo a simulações mentais e transmitindo as informações obtidas ou tomando decisões. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Decision-making is transversal to human beings; in our daily lives we make decisions frequently, both personally and professionally. The environment of major political events is considered complex due to the large number of people, its unpredictability, and the amount of information it requires. It is therefore pertinent to study the strategies used by decision-makers to face these challenges. On the other hand, technological advances have had an impact on our lives, both personally and professionally. In the specific case of this dissertation, the aim was to find out whether unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) influence the decision-making of police commanders at major political events. To this end, a qualitative study was carried out in a naturalistic context, following three major political events to understand the decision-making process using UAVs. Data was collected using documentary research, observation, and the think aloud technique, which was then subjected to content analysis. The results show that the use of UAVs influences the decision-making process only in the field phases - observation and think aloud - by providing the decision-maker with constantly updated information and enabling constant monitoring of the location of demonstrators and police personnel, allowing the decision-maker to constantly evaluate policing, using mental simulations, and transmitting the information obtained or making decisions. To deal with the vast amount of information obtained, the decision-maker uses cognitive shortcuts or heuristics to simplify the decision-making process and obtain effective and satisfactory solutions. | pt_PT |
