Abstract(s)
This study focuses on Workers’ perception of safety training in relation to risk behaviors in the construction industry, with the main objective of understanding and an-alyzing how construction workers perceive safety training, particularly regarding its ef-fectiveness in reducing risk behaviors. The high incidence of accidents in construction continues to be associated with unsafe behaviors, making it necessary to understand whether safety training is perceived by workers as effective in reducing such risks. The study involved 43 construction workers of different ages and professional experiences. Data collection included a questionnaire on training perception, length of time in the role, and the importance attributed to safety training, applied at two different moments, before and after improvements, and complemented by interviews. The research is longitudinal in nature and followed a mixed-methods approach: quantitative, through statistical analysis of responses, and qualitative, through interviews. The results showed that, initially, workers’ perception of the practical effective-ness of training was moderate, pointing to a need for improvement. After the implemen-tation of more practical, dynamic sessions adapted to the real needs of construction sites, workers began to recognize greater effectiveness of training in reducing risks, while also valuing the regularity of sessions and their active participation. It is concluded that inter-active methodologies, focused on concrete workplace situations, enhance workers’ en-gagement and contribute to strengthening a safety culture in the construction industry.
