| dc.description.abstract | As actuais aeronaves de combate e de treino, pelas suas elevadas performances, provocam efeitos adversos no organismo humano. Os pilotos operam num ambiente consideravelmente agressivo e potencialmente perigoso, cujas características podem limitar as suas capacidades e desempenho ao ponto de os levar até à inconsciência. Daqui decorre naturalmente um factor de risco muito acrescido que não está presente na operação de outras aeronaves, por exemplo de transporte. São vários os sistemas do organismo humano afectados, indo do cardiovascular ao respiratório, passando pelo vestibular, só para nomear alguns. Na prática pode dizer-se que de uma forma ou de outra, todos os órgãos são afectados, pois o ser humano foi concebido e está adaptado à vida na superfície terrestre, sendo-lhe mais ou menos difícil sobreviver e funcionar, tanto submerso como em altitude, apesar de todas as artificialidades criadas para sua protecção. É pois neste contexto que o presente trabalho se insere, identificando e analisando aqueles aspectos mais agressivos e limitativos decorrentes do voo em aeronaves de alta performance. Paralelamente serão também apontados e discutidos os métodos à disposição dos tripulantes para minimizar estes efeitos perversos. Pretende-se contribuir, por esta via, para uma efectiva diminuição da taxa daqueles acidentes cujas causas são frequentemente apontadas, nos relatórios de investigação de acidentes, como devidas a “factores humanos”, acidentes esses que constituem a esmagadora maioria da totalidade. Abstract: Due to their increased performance, the modern combat and training aircraft impose highly adverse effects in the human body. The environment where the pilots perform is an aggressive one and potentially dangerous, which characteristics can downgrade their ability and performance to the point where unconsciousness may arise. This of course creates an ever-increasing risk factor that is not normally present in the operation of other aircraft types, namely air transport. Some examples of highly susceptive human body systems are, just to nominate a few, the cardiovascular, the respiratory and the vestibular. For practical purposes and considering that the human being was conceived and is adapted to life at earth surface level, one can say that no matter what degree, all the human body components are affected by flight. Regardless all the artificialities created for human protection, it is rather complicated and demanding to function and survive either under water or high in airspace. Therefore it is in such a context the present study will identify and analyze the aspects, which are more aggressive and incapacitating, that result from high performance aircraft flying. Along the way several methods available to the aircrews, bound to minimize these unwanted effects, will be pointed and discussed. According to flight safety and accident investigation reports, the majority of the mishaps are due to what is commonly called “human factor causes”. Thus the ultimate aim of this study is to contribute to the effective decrease of the number of this kind and most often, fatal accidents. | pt_PT |
