This dissertation investigates how the adaptation and transformation of didactic materials, inspired by Maria Montessori’s pedagogy and related to the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), can foster the development of inclusive, flexible, and equitable educational practices. The research, qualitative in nature and theoretical in approach, was based on an integrative review of the literature and on the design of a teacher training proposal aimed at promoting reflection on the role of materials, environment, and pedagogical mediation in the teaching and learning process. From the exploratory and interpretative proposal, which attempts to assess training needs through a questionnaire and designs an integrated training plan, it is noteworthy that both Montessori and UDL share foundational principles centered on autonomy, flexibility, observation, and the appreciation of diversity as an essential element of learning. The analysis demonstrates that adapting materials is not merely a technical procedure but an ethical and pedagogical act that acknowledges each learner’s uniqueness and seeks to remove barriers to participation. Thus, it confirms that continuous and reflective teacher training is crucial for the consolidation of inclusive and transformative learning environments.
