A delinquĂȘncia juvenil Ă© hoje uma via de afirmação para muitos jovens. Estando eles num perĂodo agitado das suas vidas, surge o dever, por parte da sociedade civil, de estar atenta a estes comportamentos desviantes, no sentido de fazer algo para antever estas condutas. As referĂȘncias e investigaçÔes sobre o assunto tĂȘm dado a possibilidade de compreender tanto as suas origens como as suas causas, tendo em vista sobretudo a criação de medidas para a sua prevenção. O presente estudo procurou investigar as percepçÔes que os adolescentes, sem percurso delinquente conhecido, expressam sobre as dimensĂ”es do crime e da violĂȘncia, tendo em conta uma reflexĂŁo sobre o gĂ©nero, assim como a sua comparação com aquelas manifestadas em estudos anteriores. Elegendo uma abordagem qualitativa, e tendo como suporte um guiĂŁo semi-estruturado, foram feitas 20 entrevistas a jovens adolescentes (10 rapazes e 10 raparigas) que, depois de transcritas, compuseram o corpus que foi submetido a anĂĄlise de conteĂșdo, tendo por base um procedimento misto. Os resultados mostram que os adolescentes falam de forma mais espontĂąnea sobre o tema crime do que o tema violĂȘncia, definindo-o com maior facilidade. No que respeita ao gĂ©nero, as raparigas, no geral, mostram-se mais participativas do que os rapazes, sendo que estes as superam sobretudo quando se remete para a formulação de um juĂzo moral sobre o crime e para a definição de violĂȘncia. Observou-se ainda que os jovens participantes pensam de forma idĂȘntica aos entrevistados em estudos anteriores.
Juvenile delinquency is today a vindication to many young people. Being them in a disturbed period of their lives, comes the obligation, on the part of civil society, to be attentive to these deviant behaviours, and doing something to anticipate them. References and research on the subject have given the possibility to understand both its origins and its causes with a view mainly to its prevention by creating preventive measures. This study sought to investigate the perceptions that teens, without a delinquent course, express about the dimensions of crime and violence, taking into account a reflection about the gender, as well as its comparison with those expressed in previous studies. Electing a qualitative approach, and supported by a script, 20 semi-structured interviews to young adolescents (10 boys and 10 girls) were conducted which, once transcribed, composed the corpus that was subjected to content analysis, based on a combined procedure. The results show that adolescents are more spontaneous when speaking about crime than about violence, defining it with greater ease. As regards gender, girls generally are more participative than boys, and they outnumber particularly when it refers to the formulation of a moral judgment about crime and the definition of violence. It was noted that the young participants think identically to respondents in previous studies.
