| dc.description.abstract | Para promover o bem-estar dos gatos no contexto de um Centro de Atendimento Médico Veterinário (CAMVs), foram criadas diretrizes para garantir o cuidado adequado e o bem-estar dos gatos durante as visitas e consultas. Essas orientações abrangem diversas áreas, desde o maneio apropriado dos gatos até à adaptação do ambiente no consultório, na sala de espera e no internamento. Pretende-se assim disponibilizar orientações para um maneio adequado, uma comunicação eficaz e a criação de um ambiente acolhedor. O objetivo final é assegurar o bem-estar do gato e reduzir o stresse e a ansiedade associados às visitas ao médico veterinário. Aspeto importante durante o exame geral é a comunicação adequada com os gatos, o que inclui o uso o uso de técnicas de contenção minimamente confortáveis para o animal. Também é crucial criar um ambiente amigável na sala de espera, o que passa por definir áreas separadas para gatos e cães, para assim minimizar o contacto visual entre os animais. Além disso, as caixas de transporte onde os gatos viajam devem ser seguras, confortáveis e facilitar o acesso ao animal durante a consulta. Nesta dissertação será abordada a organização de uma consulta médico-veterinária, cobrindo todos os aspetos a serem considerados antes, durante e depois da entrada do animal, por forma a minimizar o stresse nos gatos e maximizar o seu bem-estar, bem como durante a realização de procedimentos de diagnóstico. É importante também que se adotem medidas para os gatos internados, a fim de aumentar o seu bem-estar durante este período. Os profissionais de medicina veterinária estão cada vez mais conscientes da importância da gestão do stresse em gatos e da utilização de ferramentas que visam a melhoria do seu conforto em cada visita. Considerando o dever ético, o interesse médico e a valorização dos clientes, é crucial que os CAMVs adotem medidas para garantir o bem-estar dos gatos. Assim, pretende-se compilar informações sobre o bem-estar dos gatos em CAMVs e disponibilizar orientações e ferramentas para o melhorar, de forma a contribuir para a redução do stresse dos gatos durante as visitas veterinárias, garantindo o seu conforto e saúde. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | To promote the welfare of cats in the context of Veterinary Medical Centers, guidelines were created to ensure proper care and the welfare of cats during visits and consultations. These guidelines encompass various areas, from the appropriate handling of cats to the adaptation of the environment in the examination room, waiting area, and hospitalization. The intention is to provide guidance for proper handling, effective communication, and the creation of a welcoming environment. The ultimate goal is the welfare of the cat and to reduce stress and anxiety associated with visits to the veterinarian. This includes the use of proper restraint techniques, and an important aspect during restraint is the general examination and effective communication with the cats. An important aspect during the general examination is proper communication with the cats, which includes the use of minimally comfortable restraint techniques for the animal. It's also crucial to create a friendly atmosphere in the waiting room, which involves setting up separate areas for cats and dogs to minimize eye contact between the animals. In addition, the transport boxes in which cats travel should be safe, comfortable and facilitate access to the animal during the appointment. In this dissertation, the organization of a veterinary consultation will be addressed, covering all aspects to be considered before, during, and after the entry of the animal to minimize stress in cats and maximize their welfare, as well as during the performance of diagnostic procedures. It is important to adopt measures for hospitalised cats in order to increase their well-being during this period. Veterinary professionals are increasingly aware of the importance of managing stress in cats and using tools to improve their comfort during each visit. Considering ethical responsibility, medical interest, and customer satisfaction, it is crucial that Veterinary Medical Centers adopt measures to ensure cats welfare. Therefore, the aim is to compile information about cat well-being in Veterinary Medical Centers and provide guidance and tools to enhance it, contributing to the reduction of cat stress during veterinary visits, ensuring their comfort and health. | pt_PT |
