The main objective of this research study was to analyze the predictor variables of Emerging Leadership in students participating in a field exercise at the Air Force Academy. Specifically, the predictive role of the variables Personality Traits, Self-Leadership and Leadership Competencies in the variable Emerging Leadership was analyzed. To conduct this research, a study was conducted using a quantitative methodology, with a correlational nature, drawing conclusions through the interpretation of data obtained through a questionnaire survey of students and a competency evaluation grid provided by the evaluators. The sample was composed of 92 students, both civilian and military participating in the field exercises in question. The results obtained confirmed that the Leadership Competencies variable has an extremely important predictive role towards the Emerging Leadership variable. Like the existing literature, the competencies related to the individual dimension were those that obtained a better relationship with the dependent variable, with emphasis on the competencies Ascendancy and Decision Making. It was also possible to confirm the moderation of the Leadership Experience variable in the relationship between the variable Leadership Competencies and Emerging Leadership. This research study allowed us to assess the main variables that may allow an individual to emerge as a leader in a group, thus providing concrete data on the main areas in need of improvement in leadership training, both in the military and in the civilian organizational context.
