Abstract(s)
This research analyzes the influence of internal communication on the functioning of schools as organizations, based on the perceptions of various actors in the educational community: students, teachers, directors, staff, and guardians. The main focus of this work is to study the influence of communication on the functioning of schools as organizations. For the development of this study, a qualitative approach was adopted using semi-structured interviews conducted in two public schools, both located in the Setúbal district, but with different realities: one in an urban area (School A) and the other in a more rural area (School B). The testimonies collected reflected perceptions, feelings, challenges, and communicative strategies adopted in the school context, analyzed comparatively between groups. The data were processed by dimensions, allowing for the identification of response patterns and communicative tensions that affect the institutional climate. The results revealed common difficulties in message clarity, dispersion of communication channels used, and lack of consistent mechanisms for participation and dialogue. The testimonies obtained reported that clear and structured communication is not always practiced, and mentioned that bidirectional communication favors collaborative school functioning, promoting a more productive and integrated educational environment. Based on this information, this thesis proposes suggestions for improving communication in these two schools, aiming to optimize communicative processes and strengthen cooperation among all educational actors, so that school management as an organization is positively influenced. Strategic solutions were proposed, such as the implementation of digital platforms, participatory meetings, and regular communication diagnostics. The study concludes that investing in integrated and inclusive communication practices is essential to strengthen organizational cohesion and promote a more effective and efficient, transparent and collaborative school culture.
