O processo de esterilização de Dispositivos Médicos de Uso Múltiplo (DMUM) é crucial para o sucesso operacional de um bloco operatório e para realização de cirurgias, permitindo manter os padrões de qualidade das instituições.
Os DMUM devem estar devidamente esterilizados, em conformidade e disponíveis de forma a evitar atrasos ou cancelamentos de cirurgias. Por conseguinte, é importante compreender todo o processo de reprocessamento e esterilização dos DMUM, bem como os diferentes métodos.
Atualmente, o setor da saúde enfrenta o desafio continuo de aumentar a eficiência, sendo a externalização de serviços de apoio, neste caso a central de esterilização, uma estratégia adotada.
O presente estudo tem como objetivo avaliar o impacto desta mudança na eficiência organizacional e investigar a perceção e nível de satisfação dos enfermeiros que trabalham no bloco operatório.
O estudo incidirá sobre três empresas de reprocessamento de DMUM que prestam serviços de outsourcing a hospitais públicos e privados na região de Lisboa: o SECH- Serviço de Esterilização Comum Hospitalar, o CENES – Central de esterilização CUF e, a GLSMED CENTER – Central de esterilização do Grupo Luz Saúde. O estudo engloba a recolha de dados quantitativos junto destas empresas e dos seus clientes, com especial enfoque nos enfermeiros dos blocos operatórios.
Com este estudo pretende-se contribuir para a compreensão dos benefícios e desafios associados à externalização dos serviços de esterilização, apresentando uma visão clara sobre o seu impacto na eficiência organizacional e na satisfação dos profissionais de saúde envolvidos. Os resultados poderão servir de base para uma futura otimização deste processo noutras unidades hospitalares.
The sterilization process for reusable medical devices (RMDs) is crucial to the operational success of an operating room and to the performance of surgeries, allowing institutions to maintain their quality standards. MDUs must be properly sterilized, compliant, and available in order to avoid delays or cancellations of surgeries. Therefore, it is important to understand the entire process of reprocessing and sterilizing MDUs, as well as the different methods. Currently, the healthcare sector faces the ongoing challenge of increasing efficiency, with the outsourcing of support services, in this case the sterilization center, being a strategy adopted. The present study aims to assess the impact of this change on organizational efficiency and to investigate the perception and level of satisfaction of nurses working in the operating room. The study will focus on three DMUM reprocessing companies that provide outsourcing services to public and private hospitals in the Lisbon region: SECH- Serviço de Esterilização Comum Hospitalar, CENES – Central de esterilização CUF, and GLSMED CENTER – Central de esterilização do Grupo Luz Saúde. The study involves the collection of quantitative data from these companies and their customers, with a special focus on operating room nurses. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of the benefits and challenges associated with the outsourcing of sterilization services, providing a clear view of its impact on organizational efficiency and the satisfaction of the healthcare professionals involved. The results may serve as a basis for future optimization of this process in other hospital units.
