Abstract(s)
A primeira,
positivos.

Based on a semi-structured interview with twenty elderly people, aged 75 years or older, we investigated general aspects of the life trajectory of the elderly, with emphasis on the current stage and on the spiritual dimension. Research data were selected for the qualitative method of thematic analysis. An analysis of the interviews resulted in the definition of two thematic categories: “Perceiving oneself as a social subject” and “The relationship of the elderly with spirituality”. The first refers to the main life experiences of the elderly, while the second concerns the understanding and understanding of spirituality. Findings that aging was accepted as a natural component of the cycle due to physical losses, but also to gains in life experience. Spiritual life appears as an experience that encourages socialization, communication with oneself and reflection on life and death, with protection in aging. The results also show that the meanings related to attitudes were more related to the transcendence of positive attitudes and values.
