A qualidade de vida é cada vez mais ponderada como parte integrante no processo de avaliação dos resultados dos tratamentos. Deste modo, a identificação da relevância das consequências sociais e físicas durante o tratamento ortodôntico é essencial para elevar a duração do bem-estar e conforto do doente.
Atualmente existe um vasto leque de opções de tratamento para corrigir problemas de oclusão e alinhamento dentário. Dentro destas opções, nos últimos anos os alinhadores ortodônticos têm vindo a revolucionar a Ortodontia Moderna, fazendo frente aos convencionais aparelhos ortodônticos fixos.
Neste contexto, o presente trabalho científico tem como fito planear um futuro projeto de investigação científica, a realizar na Clínica Universitária Egas Moniz, por forma a dilucidar o impacto que o tipo de aparelho ortodôntico pode ter na qualidade de vida do paciente.
Este futuro projeto, através da aplicação do questionário “Perfil de Impacto na Saúde Oral” (OHIP-14), tem como objetivo comparar a perceção de pacientes com aparatologia ortodôntica fixa com a de pacientes com alinhadores invisíveis, relativamente ao impacto do tratamento na sua qualidade de vida.
The quality of life is increasingly considered as an integral part in the process of evaluating treatment results. Thus, the identification of the relevance of social and physical consequences during orthodontic treatment is essential to increase the duration of well-being and comfort of the patient. Currently, there is a wide range of treatment options to correct problems of occlusion and dental alignment. Within these options, in recent years orthodontic aligners have revolutionized Modern Orthodontics, standing up to conventional fixed orthodontic appliances. In this context, the present scientific work aims to plan a future scientific research project, to be carried out at the Egas Moniz University Clinic, in order to dilute the impact that the type of orthodontic appliance can have on the quality of life of the patient. This future project, through the application of the questionnaire "Oral Health Impact Profile" (OHIP-14), aims to compare the perception of patients with fixed orthodontic appliance with that of patients with invisible aligners, regarding the impact of treatment on their quality of life.
