Abstract(s)
Método: Foram utilizadas as seguintes bases de dados: PubMed / Medline, PsychArticles, PsychInfo, Scielo PePsic, B-on and Web of Science (Academic Search Premier), Redalyc.
Introduction: Given the multifactorial etiology of bruxism and the recognition of the importance of psychological factors in it, we intend through an umbrella review, to analyse the systematic reviews or meta-analyses on the psychological factors associated with bruxism. Method: The following databases were used: PubMed / Medline, PsychArticles, PsychInfo, Scielo PePsic, B-on and Web of Science (Academic Search Premier), Redalyc. The search was carried out by selecting the following keywords: Bruxism; sleep bruxism; awake bruxism; night guard; Systematic review or meta-analysis; Psycho; Psychological factors; Stress; Anxiety. Results: Of the 61 articles that met eligibility criteria, only 7 were included. Most studies reported that there is an association between bruxism and psychological factors with variable degrees of evidence. The population of the studies included children, adolescents and adults from different countries, with great heterogeneity in their characteristics which in itself constitutes a biasing factor. Conclusion: The available results suggest an association between sleep bruxism and psychological factors. We found that there is a need for further research in this area, with unequivocal results for better treatment guidance. There is a need for homogeneity of criteria, both in the selection of the population and in the use of instruments validated for the population under study.
