O dispositivo territorial das forças de segurança tem sofrido alterações ao longo dos tempos, que
importa avaliar e caracterizar. A Polícia de Segurança Pública e a Guarda Nacional Republicana
são as policias que se ocupam da segurança do espaço público. À primeira tradicionalmente foilhe atribuída a responsabilidade pela segurança dos aglomerados populacionais de maior
dimensão e à segunda foram-lhe atribuídas as áreas rurais. A evolução demográfica portuguesa
implica que sejam efetuados ajustamentos, uma vez que a distribuição destas forças de segurança
pelo território continua a registar assimetrias. Com recurso a Base Geográfica de Referenciação
da Informação do Instituto Nacional de Estatística pretendemos caracterizar a evolução dos
dispositivos territoriais, em especial da Polícia de Segurança Pública
The territorial apparatus of the security forces has undergone changes over time, which it is important to evaluate and characterize. The Public Security Police and the National Republican Guard are the police forces responsible for the security of the public space. The former has traditionally been given responsibility for the security of the larger population centers and the latter for rural areas. The Portuguese demographic evolution requires that adjustments be made, since the distribution of these security forces across the territory continues to show asymmetries.
