Abstract(s)
Providing care in a community context, as it is sometimes an unknown context, can be more prone to situations of violence. Workplace violence, experienced in the healthcare sector by healthcare professionals, has been increasing at a rapid and worrying rate. This phenomenon presents itself as an emerging public health problem worldwide. With the aim of contributing to the training of health professionals at a Community Care Unit in preventing violence against health professionals and reporting these situations, a Community Intervention Project was developed, based on the Health Planning methodology, based on the theoretical framework of Betty Neuman's Systems Model, aimed at health professionals. A diagnosis of the situation was carried out, using a semi-structured interview, with the results obtained demonstrating little training in relation to the topic of violence against health professionals, devaluation of situations of violence occurring within the scope of professional activity, as well as lack of knowledge regarding subsequent procedures, which resulted in underreporting of them. The interventions implemented aimed at training health professionals at Community Care Units regarding the phenomenon of violence against professionals within the scope of their professional activity and the subsequent procedures, in particular the notification process, allowing strategies to be found to deal with this phenomenon and to notify the same. Positive results were obtained with the intervention, which demonstrated the importance of the role of the nurse specialist in community health and public health nursing in training and empowering the community, particularly health professionals, aiming at their decision-making in their health promotion and disease prevention. This report outlines the route taken, as well as the project developed.
